June- Vegas, Wedding, Big Game Hunting
July- Computer shutdown, gateway=failure.
There’s always a thought of what is human potiental. The next chapter of my life is about to embark. Many of us are ready, many of us still dont have a damn clue what the hell is going on. The ultra prepared is ready for school but never for life. Those who arent prepared for school are ultra prepared for life.
I feel that there’s an adventure to every lifeline. I wish it was that easy to believe in a happy ending, I just dont know.
Again, in this mind I wonder if the very advice I give is sound. As a peer or a mentor, I hope I can steer in the right direction. I still need to be mentored myself.
loving, caring, honest, moral, loyal.
and most of all, still thankful.

As I was cleaning out my room due to me moving out I bumped into this Poem written to my by one of my Exs when I was in 7th grade. Oh how innocent and pure we were than. Yet at the very same time we write about the very same emotions that we all experience and deal with.
Thank you. This actually means a lot. And if she ever sees this again and realizes who she is, Thank you. This was a happy memory back in this trip. I thought I’d share it.
[7th Grade]
Life
It can twist your heart
Put you in the Dark
I was cold and lonely
Doubt
It can close you in
Build the walls within
I let fear control me
I let go
Didn’t know
Where the answer would be
Faith
It can lift you up
And we’ve got enough
To reach a new beginning
Love
Can withstand a storm
In the final hour
We’ll find the joy in living
Dont let go
Cuz I know
Pretty soon you will see
You are my tomorrow
There’s safety in your arms
Where you go, I’ll follow
Cuz you’re the world where I belong.

Google has joined with the Open Technology Institute to help identify which ISPs are restricting peer-to-peer traffic, launching M-Lab to help users discover whether or not they’re being affected.
One of the tools M-Lab will use is Glasnost, a java applet that initiates a torrent transfer between a user’s pc and the remote testing server. It compares the results to the speed of a normal transfer to see whether or not the peer-to-peer traffic is being throttled.
If you’re curious about your own ISP, run the Glasnost test and see what it reports. You’ll have to be patient, though – the recent news about Google coming onboard has increased traffic on the site greatly and it’s having a hard time keeping up.
It’s good to know that once M-Lab is online they’ll have 36 Google servers in 12 locations to help run the tests.

Im a bit surprised I didn’t consolidate this yet but here are some current projects/free programs I’ve been up to using.
1.Burn Aware- Free burning program :] -Noted that Nero does have better stability but if you burn at a slightly lower rate it seems to work just as well
2.Programmers NotePad Two- still checking this out (not for everyone)
3. Synergy- Software/Network based Kvm Switch (again not for everyone, it’s useful for people with multiple computer systems to use a single keyboard/ mouse on multiple systems with clipboard memory)
4.Wincare Personal 2 – cleans up the system. basically.
5.CC Cleaner- Crap cleaner- good to just clean system up
6.Auslog Disk Defragger- 3rd party defragger.
7.DIGSBY- aim, fbchat, ms chat, msn chat, yahoo has logging, gmail and facebook support. I likes it. Note Fb chat in general seems to take up some Lag time.
8.Picasa windows only- Very good photo categorization system as well as basic video and picture editing. Has automatic upload to picasa web albums kinda like flicker. I dont understand why more people dont use this -_-i.
9. Winamp- with older Ipod support – noted still doesnt support my new itouchv 2.2 D:, but if you have a 5th gen video Ipod you can still back up music and actually transfer music between two different Ipods and play your music directly off the Ipod.
10. Office document Utility- Oh gosh there’s so many. ZOHO, GOOGLE DOC, OPEN OFFICE. Just to name a few.
11. Klight video Codac- Necessary for people who watch multiple types of videos
Things that I want to figure out/ Waiting for
1. Still working on Synergy Kvm Switch- Synergy seems to be the ticket.
2. Jailbreaking Itouch for Islsk, some sort of VPN system that can cross platform mac xp and linux
3. Need to check out programmers notepad. I dont know how good it actually is.
4. trillian Astra- does digsby already own this?
5. I cant wrap my understanding around Utorrent, I’ve got to move from Vuze to something less intensive.
6. Unity 3d as a game development tool. Esp for the Iphone/ Itouch. I kinda wanna see if I can learn to use it and make a basic game with it. Some sort of defense game, if someone is willing to join me I’d be down to split development costs and development time + profit assuming it passes Itunes and apple standards -_- but that’s a long time from now. Either way its a WYSSWYG type 3d game development tool.

7. EDIT- GPUZ- just tells you about your GPU- pure benchmarking.

im currently using john’s background switcher but this may be worth looking into.
This may be edited as time goes on….
For a while I’ve been a big fan of Acer products since I used to work in the same building for 3 years. On the high end level acer products don’t seem so bad, especially at the price point. Through their buddy system I was able to buy an Acer 9300-5005 that has a geforce 7300 go, AMD Turion x2, 2 gigs Ram for about 550$. Instead of a 1100.
I was initially impressed and extremely happy with the product for a good year. Basically AFTER I stopped carrying it around for school and left it at home. And then I realized that one side wouldn’t close correctly and the problem spread to the other side. After removing all the screen screws I came to see that the plastic holding the hindges and the screen together literally broke apart from being too brittle. So now I have a laptop that cannot be moved.
The thing that bothers me about my experience with Acer is
1. My girlfriend and I share the same laptop model yet strangely different parts. For example I had an Atheros WIFI chip and she had a Marvell Chip.
2.Keyboard jams quite often.
3.The hinges broke down after I stopped using lugging it around as often
4.The part that broke down is purely a Quality Control problem. (yes yes I know I bought a reconditioned unit, but this is still the same product they sell to their own people)
5.The screws keep unscrewing on the bottom of my acer.
So there goes 550 on another laptop stuck on my desktop.
Asus? HP? Sony? Please don’t fail me this time X_X.

Over in California, champagne corks are popping. In the offices of the MPAA and RIAA, lawyers turned lobbyists are dancing jigs. In houses all around the US however, people are left dumbfounded by the passage of a bill based on appeasement to big money, at a time when the country is in economic turmoil.
The Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act of 2008, or PRO IP Act, finally gathered the signature of President George W. Bush, and made it into law. The act, as we previously reported, has been criticized by both the US Departments of Justice (DOJ) and Commerce (DOC), but gathered support in the wake of economic troubles that have hit the US.
Title I of the bill, which allowed the DOJ to pursue civil copyright cases, was dropped by the senate when they passed the bill, with Richard Esguerra, spokesman for the Electronic Frontier Foundation, noting that he was relieved that attorneys won’t become “pro bono personal lawyers for the content industry.” However, the objections of the DOC – that the creation of a ‘Copyright Czar’ would be an unconstitutional violation of Separation of Powers – went unopposed. Included in the bill is the issue of ‘civil forfeiture’, where articles can be seized and held if it is thought they are to be used in committing a crime, or infringement.
The unanimous passage of this bill is worrying, mainly because it shows a triumph for lobbying over facts, and how common sense can be easily overruled with enough money and influence. Claims that support the bill include spurious job creations from this bill, to money saved in the economy. “Counterfeiting and piracy costs the United States nearly $250 billion annually,” says the US Chamber of Commerce in a Reuters article, while others have more effectively broken down the figures and pointed out how they don’t make sense.
Yet, in a country on the brink of economic meltdown, a bill that is claimed to help the economy by creating jobs (and boost the economy by reducing those jobs and revenue claimed to be lost) seems like a good political move, regardless of how absurd and baseless the figures are. Dan Glickman of the MPAA certainly wants to play the economic card, saying: “At this critical time for our economy, it’s important to send a message that the jobs created and maintained by the protection of intellectual property is a national priority.”
The person filling this Copyright Czar role will, presumably, be in a similar position to that of the Drugs Czar, and will listen mainly to lobbyists and ’safe’ peer pressure. Just as in the case of narcotics, symptoms will be dealt with, and not causes. Targeting causes means targeting contributors, while targeting symptoms just means targeting voters, and there are millions of them. It also remains to be seen who will be given the role of Copyright Czar, but don’t be surprised if it’s a member of the MPAA/RIAA, although some might start pushing for Prof. Lessig, as happened when California’s 12th District lost its congressman. However, Prof. Lessig told TorrentFreak that he’s “not going to be an enforcement czar, and nor would I be wanted for that.”
Perhaps the worst aspect of the bill, though, is the extension of forfeiture. Already used extensively in drugs cases, it is often inappropriately applied. If drugs are found in someone’s home, and along with that comes a claim from a 3rd party (even if they were caught breaking into the home) that they were dealing, the home owner can have their house taken away, along with anything of value in it.
Although some may feel that forfeiture is an appropriate response to serious large scale drug dealing, those same draconian measures can now apply to copyright infringement cases. It can cause more expense and difficulty in defending cases when defendants have to prove in a separate court action, that the materials seized were not used for the actions claimed. Wikipedia indicates that 3 years, and $10,000 is the typical cost of fighting such cases. Public Knowledge opposes these forfeiture measures, with spokesman Art Brodsky saying: “Let’s suppose that there’s one computer in the house, and one person uses it for downloads and one for homework. The whole computer goes.”
The increase in powers and fines exacerbates an already bad situation. With the forfeiture laws, in theory they may be able to have equipment belonging to ISP’s seized (while the DMCA gives safe harbor for prosecution under infringement, it may not allow a defense under forfeiture) and that could be used as a club to beat ISPs into the role of copyright police – one that ISPs worldwide have been loathed to accept.
With the election just weeks away, perhaps our American readers might be interested in tracking who voted for the bill, as all representatives are up for election. Senate voting was not recorded.”

This truly scares me because of the misinformation fed into those whom matter. Basically the jist of it is that if you pirate you’re just as bad as a drug dealer.
Sigh
So as a reminder to myself here is a page with all of our california state senators

I will be sure to email the senator from my district.

As a student and a bit of a technology enthusiast, I first came to the thought that blogs were really just mindless opinions of the masses that were often nonsensical or the diary of some lonely guy who wants to “express” himself/herself by writing on a public page readily open by everyone. For example Live journal, Xanga, and those types of pages. Yet I am very wrong, and a hypocrite because I had those as well.
Yet there are those genius pages that I have come across that should be read on a daily basis. It doesn’t matter if our interests are different or even if we’re polar opposites across the political spectrum.
1.Lifehacker- DIY(do it yourself), daily life tips and technology upgrades for getting anything/everything done.
2.Consumerist-Because we’re all consumers
and the notalwaysright.com- because we all don’t like rude consumers.
3.http://maddox.xmission.com/, unless you’re under a mature age than no. Don’t, he’d be a good “Johnathan Swift” for our time.
4.Woot.com, One of those Deals a day that are just perfectly worth it.
Periodically I’ll update this as I see fit.
